Pardon the very amateur video but I wanted to make sure I announced my third annual painting competition in style.
Check out the video for the gist of it but the official rules are below. Competition takes place November 19 at Out of the Box starting at noon!
There are 3 main categories with a secondary 4rth category. Entrants are not limited to the company or brand of models they may enter. I do not want to pigeon hole your creativity in this way. 3D prints welcome.
The three main categories are judged by a panel of three judges and winners will be chosen based on your entry getting a grade. Entrants may only choose to enter one of these three categories. These three categories include: Single Model, Squad, and Scenic. The fourth category called The Final Boss category may have a total of one entry per person. Entrants who entered into the first three categories are also allowed a submission for this category, however the submissions have to be different. Details of the categories are below.
Single Model Category:
This category is for people who are interested in putting all of their effort into just one model making it as good as it possibly can be. Entries must be on an 80mm base or less. Entries can also be busts. This category will be judged and your entry will be given a grade.
Prizes:
1st: 80$ GC to Out of the Box, 1st Place Plaque
2nd: 20$ GC to Out of the Box, 2nd Place Plaque
3rd: 3rd Place Plaque
Squad Category:
This category is for people who are interested in submitting a cohesive unit of models as a group. Entries must consist of anywhere from 3 to 10 models that are all cohesive that have a base size not exceeding 50mm. This category will be judged and your entry will be given a grade.
Prizes:
1st: 80$ GC to Out of the Box, 1st Place Plaque
2nd: 20$ GC to Out of the Box, 2nd Place Plaque
3rd: 3rd Place Plaque
Scenic Category:
This category is for people who are interested in submitting a scene or a landscape with the intention of telling a story. Entries must not exceed 1 cubic foot in size. This category will be judged and your entry will be given a grade.
Prizes:
1st: 80$ GC to Out of the Box, 1st Place Plaque
2nd: 20$ GC to Out of the Box, 2nd Place Plaque
3rd: 3rd Place Plaque
FINAL BOSS CATEGORY:
This category's theme is to create and submit an imposing final boss model. Formerly called the monster and machine category this category focuses on large creatures or machinations with an awe inspiring presence. The object of this category is a little different from the previous three. It won't be judged by a panel and instead the public will decide who the winner is with public voting available from noon on Nov 19th until 5:00pm on Nov 24th. Your entry will stay overnight and will be able to collect votes during this time. After 5:00pm on Nov 24th, voting will cease and you will be able to pick up your submission. Entrants who have submitted an entry into one of the 3 previous categories are also allowed to submit one entry into this category bringing the total number of submissions per entrant to a maximum of 2. The entries must be different models from each other.
Prizes:
1st: 80$ GC to Out of the Box, 1st Place Plaque, YOU ARE THE NEXT FINAL BOSS.
2nd: 20$ GC to Out of the Box, 2nd Place Plaque
3rd: 3rd Place Plaque
I'm super excited and honoured to be able to host this again, and I'm even more excited to get involved and test my mettle against my fellow painters.
